About us
A small, independent villa agency, run the slow way
We’re not a marketplace with thousands of listings. We personally manage two homes, on two coastlines, and treat every guest like someone we’d welcome ourselves.

Our Story
Started with one villa and a bad experience on someone else’s platform
Slow Coast Stays began with Casa del Tramonto, a 200-year-old house above Belmonte beach that we restored slowly, room by room, using local hands and materials. When it came time to welcome guests, we listed it on the usual platforms — and watched a third of every booking disappear into service fees, with guests we never got to speak to directly.
So we built our own front door instead. A few years later we opened Casa Mono near Tamarindo, Costa Rica, following the same idea: fewer homes, more care, and a direct relationship between us and the people staying there.
We have no plans to become a marketplace with a hundred listings. Two coasts, two houses, done properly, is the whole business.
What we believe running a villa agency should look like
Direct, not brokered
You talk to us, not a call centre. No middleman marking up your stay or hiding behind a support ticket.
Few homes, done well
We’d rather manage two villas brilliantly than a hundred adequately. Every detail gets our attention.
Rooted in place
Our SLocal materials, local hosts, local knowledge — we want guests to leave understanding the coast, not just the villa.tory
How we're different
A relaxed alternative to the big booking platforms
Sites like Airbnb charge both guests and hosts a cut of every booking. We charge neither — the nightly rate you see is the rate we’re paid, and it goes straight back into the villas.
